President Fred DehmelI would like to welcome you to the Council of Private Investigators - Atlantic Canada (CPI-AC) website. I hope you take the time to explore our site and review our membership.

We are a non-profit organization that has a goal to further the interests of licensed Private Investigators licensed in the Atlantic Canada. Our Council holds regular professional development seminars in different locations throughout the Maritimes, where our members upgrade their skills, network with other professionals, and discuss mutual interests. Membership in the Council shows a commitment by our members, to professionalism and ongoing development.

All members have agreed to abide by the Code of Ethics, Code of Privacy and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). All our members are licensed by their respective province and have "Investigative Body" status under PIPEDA.

It is important to note that only Private Investigators who are members of this Council have met the requirements of PIPEDA and as such have been granted "Investigative Body" Status under PIPEDA. What does this mean to you? PIPEDA states that an organization can disclose personal information without consent to an "investigative body". It also means that Private Investigators who are not members of our Council DO NOT have this status.

It is very important that prior to hiring a Private Investigator, that you make sure that they have "Investigative Body" status and always ask for proof of membership or check our website for the current membership list.

If you are a licensed Private Investigator and would like to join our association, please contact us to discuss membership.
